Celebrate with a Summer Solstice Altar

Creating seasonal altars is one of my favorite ways to anchor intentions in something tangible. It’s a visual reminder of who I’m becoming—and tending to it feels like powerful self-care.

The Summer Solstice reminds me of the Sun card in tarot: radiant, joyful, fully expressed. It’s the version of me that’s confident, alive, and unapologetically me. I always say: people adjust to the sun—if it’s too bright, they put on shades.

That’s why this season, I’m building an altar and ritual around being 100% myself—and maybe you’d like to do the same. I’ve curated my favorite Summer Solstice tools from Modern Mystic Shop to help you call in vitality, confidence, and the next-level version of you.

Scroll down to get started. Let’s shine.

FIND THE PERFECT ALTAR

An altar doesn’t need to be elaborate—a window sill, end table, or even a shoebox can become sacred space. What matters is the intention and the care brought to it. Treat the surface with reverence, and it becomes a powerful tool for ritual and reflection.

DIRECTION

Facing East adds extra power to your Summer Solstice altar. It aligns with the rising sun and supports fast-moving intentions—perfect for calling in quick shifts and fresh energy.

ELEMENTS

For balance and potency, include all four elements—air, earth, fire, and water—on your Summer Solstice altar. Choose items that feel personally meaningful. Below are some ideas to get you started, but trust what resonates with you and your practice.

BUILD YOUR ALTAR

Set up your altar like a compass, with East at the top. Place the air element in the East. Then move clockwise: Earth in the North, Water in the West, Fire in the South, then place a the Sun tarot card in the center

ALTAR ACTIVATION

Sit before your altar, light the candle, and say aloud:

“I ignite my most authentic self. So it is. So it is. So it is.”

Feel your fullest self come alive and stay in that energy as long as you’d like.

When you’re done for the day extinguish the flame and relight daily and rest the incantation each time. Optionally, you can leave the candle burning until it extingushes as long as it’s in a safe place that will not be disturbed.
